Hangzhou BC Foods Adds New Coke Bottling Facility

A ceremony was held by Hangzhou BC Foods Co. Ltd. Today (28th October) to mark the completion of its new Coca-Cola bottling facility at Hangzhou Economic and Technological Zone at Xiasha on the outskirts of Hangzhou.

The newly constructed facility occupies an area of over 50,000 square metres and will increase the total capacity by three fold. Hangzhou BC Foods is the first Coca-Cola bottler in China to have built an extension facility, having run out of capacity in its original bottling operation. The Executive Director of Swire Pacific's Industries Division and Chairman of Swire Beverages, Jim Conybeare, said the Xiasha plant was the result of the hard work and performance of the company's management and staff.

"The opening of the Xiasha plant is also testimony to the strength of The Coca-Cola Company's brands, and the appeal they have for consumers," said Mr. Conybeare. "We at Swire Beverages, working closely with The Coca-Cola Company, are determined to ensure that these brands further build on their leadership position in China."

Established in 1989, Hangzhou BC Foods is a joint venture between China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Import and Export Corporation, Hangzhou Tea Factory and BC Development Company Ltd., which is jointly owned by Swire Beverages Ltd. And China International Trust and Investment Corporation (CITIC). Swire Beverages Ltd. Is jointly held by Swire Pacific Ltd. and The Coca-Cola Company.

Hangzhou BC Foods Co. Ltd. is one of Swire Beverages' eight Coca-Cola bottling operations in China, and manufactures and distributes the Coca-Cola range of products. The company's sales network covers the whole Zhejiang Province.
